Bailey Research Group
Mission
Our lab investigates the mechanisms of increased skeletal fragility caused by cancer and cancer-related treatment. The outcomes will aid in the development of new strategies to predict, manage, and mitigate bone fractures, which can improve overall survival and quality of life in patients.
Optimal management of skeletal health in patients at risk for bone fractures requires a transdisciplinary research approach. Our success is driven in part by the collaboration between immunology, drug delivery, bio-engineering, bone regeneration, epidemiology, and biostatistics.
The long-term goal is to understand the multiple length scale mechanisms of musculoskeletal pathologies, and the interaction between the skeletal and other organ systems in the development of these pathologies.
Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
The Bailey Lab’s culture is to provide strong biomedical training in a nurturing
collaborative environment that inspires trainees to be critical thinkers and advance human health. We are committed to policies that promote diversity, inclusiveness, social justice, and respect for all. To learn more, see: https://www.umass.edu/diversity/about
